Introducing the Young Mathematicians Program
EDC's Young Mathematicians Program builds the mathematics skills of children aged three to six and supports teachers and families to engage in high-quality mathematical interactions through games and math minibooks with short problem-solving stories. By providing young children with meaningful and enriching math experiences at school and at home, Young Mathematicians builds a firm foundation for later math learning, advances equity in children’s long-term educational outcomes and ensures that children of all backgrounds are confident mathematics learners. And it is the ideal math curriculum solution for any Head Start Program
EDC's Young Mathematicians Program has been shown to be effective at improving children’s math scores in an evidence-based research study by a team of education and mathematics researchers, developmental and cognitive scientists, instructional designers, early childhood teachers, professional learning educators, parents and family engagement specialists.
EDC's Young Mathematicians Program was developed and researched for its effectiveness with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Heising-Simons Foundation and Overdeck Family Foundation.
These fun and easy-to-use math games along with the minibooks, help young children learn to count, sort, identify shapes and patterns and develop their number sense and spatial skills, all while building positive attitudes toward math. All of the games can be played multiple times and their difficulty can be increased or decreased to target a “just right” level of challenge for children as they gain proficiency.
